Will + Allyson's Destination Wedding | Dreams Playa Mujeres Resort

Words cannot explain how incredible Will and Allyson’s wedding weekend was. Darren and I flew to Mexico for their special day, at Dreams Resort in Playa Mujeres. This place is unreal! We spent the first few days of the trip exploring the resort and checking out portrait locations for the wedding. There’s nothing better than afternoons spent at the beach and pool!

We started the wedding day in the beautiful bridal suite for details and getting ready shots. Will and Allyson’s ceremony started at 5:30pm, which was perfect for outdoor nuptials on the beach. That light was sooo dreamy! One of my favorite little details was the maracas sitting on the seats for each guest to shake after their first kiss. We also loved the mariachi band at the cocktail hour! There were many pieces of the Mexican culture that made for great pictures! The reception was just as gorgeous, on a poolside terrace with a view of the ocean.  The evening was lots of fun for everyone, and there was even a piñata! Darren and I both agree that destination weddings are an exciting adventure for us. I can’t wait to see where we head to next! Congrats to Mr. + Mrs. Toohey! Thank you for choosing us to capture your special day!

Scott + Melissa's Destination Wedding | Lovers Key Beach

Scott + Melissa’s wedding weekend was the best way to start December! Darren and I flew down to Fort Myers Beach to capture their wedding day and it was absolutely gorgeous from start to finish (and much warmer than Ohio). I always dreamed of photographing a beach wedding in Florida so I was very excited when these two asked me to capture their special day!

Melissa's parents have a condo in Fort Myers so we got to spend a few days down there earlier in the year to scope out their church and reception spot on the beach. It was so fun to experience the location before coming down this month for their wedding!

My favorite part of the day was taking portraits of Scott + Melissa at sunset. Wedding days are always so busy and I find it important to pull the bride and groom away for some alone time.  They get to really enjoy the moment with just each other…plus that sunset lighting is so dreamy!

When I first met with Melissa, she shared with me her vision of having their reception on the beach, with the stars shining above. They got exactly that! It was absolutely stunning having everything setup in the sand with twinkly lights glimmering around them. All of their decor tied in nicely with the nautical theme as well. Their closest family and friends danced the night away and had the best time celebrating these two. Darren and I were so honored to have photographed this wedding! Congrats Mr. + Mrs. Stump!

Outer Banks 2016 + WE'RE ENGAGED!

A few weeks ago, I traveled to Corolla, North Carolina with the Chappelear fam! I always look forward to our family trips to the Outer Banks, spending time with my favorite people and making new memories. From the amazing seafood, wild horses on the beach and beautiful beach houses, this place has my heart. Little did I know, this place would have my heart for a very different reason by the end of the trip!

It was the Tuesday of our vacation and we spent the day celebrating my niece's birthday along with my parents' 30th wedding anniversary. My parents and I had planned to do a photo shoot that evening on the beach and I told the rest of the family to get dressed so we can take a full family photo as well! Everyone walked down the boardwalk from our beach house and lined up to take the photo. Just moments later, Darren walked over to me and with tears in his eyes got down on one knee and the rest was a total blur! He managed to surprise my entire family as well as myself! He had planned to do it when everyone was around and he chose the most gorgeous evening for it! It was so special that he proposed on my parent's anniversary also. June 21st is a day to celebrate! My nieces' and nephews' reactions were my favorite. The kids have been asking him for years (literally!) when he was going to propose and they were SO excited. They called him Uncle Darren for the rest of the trip!

Now.. the ring. It is beyond perfect. The diamond in my ring came from his Great Auntie Jean's ring. He knows how much family history means to me and the fact he wanted to use something that was passed down is amazing. I just love it so much! It was so special and his whole family was excited to see how it turned out on the new setting!

This trip was beyond perfect and Darren + I are so thankful for everyone's love and support over the last few weeks! We are so excited to finally plan our own wedding after photographing so many together! Below are my favorite moments captured!
