Scott + Melissa's Destination Wedding | Lovers Key Beach

Scott + Melissa’s wedding weekend was the best way to start December! Darren and I flew down to Fort Myers Beach to capture their wedding day and it was absolutely gorgeous from start to finish (and much warmer than Ohio). I always dreamed of photographing a beach wedding in Florida so I was very excited when these two asked me to capture their special day!

Melissa's parents have a condo in Fort Myers so we got to spend a few days down there earlier in the year to scope out their church and reception spot on the beach. It was so fun to experience the location before coming down this month for their wedding!

My favorite part of the day was taking portraits of Scott + Melissa at sunset. Wedding days are always so busy and I find it important to pull the bride and groom away for some alone time.  They get to really enjoy the moment with just each other…plus that sunset lighting is so dreamy!

When I first met with Melissa, she shared with me her vision of having their reception on the beach, with the stars shining above. They got exactly that! It was absolutely stunning having everything setup in the sand with twinkly lights glimmering around them. All of their decor tied in nicely with the nautical theme as well. Their closest family and friends danced the night away and had the best time celebrating these two. Darren and I were so honored to have photographed this wedding! Congrats Mr. + Mrs. Stump!

Jordan + Maggie's Wedding | Downtown Columbus + The Ivory Room

Jordan + Maggie’s wedding day was definitely a favorite of mine! This fall day was full of fun and sunshine. This couple chose some of my favorite local vendors, so I knew every detail would be so pretty! State and Arrow florals, Cheer Up Letterpress stationary... just to name a few!

Maggie and her girls got ready at the Hilton in Downtown Columbus, which is perfect for photos! Jordan and Maggie’s first look was on the glass skywalk over High Street, and we continued around the lobby and atrium for bright, indoor portraits.  We all jumped on the trolley and ventured around downtown before arriving to St. Francis of Assisi for their beautiful Catholic ceremony.

The Scioto Mile riverfront was great for post-ceremony portraits before heading to The Ivory Room to celebrate! This was my first time at this venue and the view of the city was just beautiful! Jordan + Maggie’s entire day was so much fun! Enjoy a few of my favorites below!

Ben + Whitney's Wedding | Oak Grove at Jorgensen Farms

Ben + Whitney's wedding at Oak Grove was incredibly sweet, emotional and intimate. Their morning ceremony was beautiful as the sunny glow shined through the greenhouse. They said their 'I do's' to one another and made vows to their daughter, Gracie. My goodness, there was not a dry eye around! The images truly show just how loving their ceremony was.

There were so many sweet moments that made it an unforgettable wedding for us as photographers! Whitney surprised Ben during their first dance by singing the first part of the song. I LOVED this moment! Also, their reception was early in the afternoon and was full of tacos, churros, laughs and joyful tears! Speeches were open to all of their family and friends which was such a great idea for a smaller, intimate wedding.

It's a funny story how I met this couple. I was photographing an engagement session last Fall when I first noticed Ben + Whitney popping champagne and celebrating their engagement. Ben had proposed just minutes before we saw them at Frank Fetch Park. After my session, I walked over and offered to take photos of this moment for them. Ben and Whitney were ecstatic. We exchanged information and I sent them their gallery of images. They booked me instantly and we all agreed that our paths were meant to cross for a reason! It's such a fun and special memory that started our relationship and I am so thankful to have them as one of my Susie Marie couples!
